(Finished) My contents page
After the last feedback I got about the image used for the DPS, I decided to apply it to the contents page as it felt right to do to keep the consistency throughout the magazine. I also added page numbers for a more professional finish.

Photography induction
I had my photography induction, which was put in place for me to understand how to take pictures for my front cover of my magazine. I had a quick introduction to all the equipment that will be needed, for example, two soft boxes- the main light, the fill light and also a snoot - the hairline light. This is also known as 3 point lighting which is what is used for most cover start photoshoots. There are two brands of lighting which are Bowers and Trinity. I also got introduced to the two DSLR cameras that i can choose to use which are Nikon or Cannon. Other things I learnt about were, F-stop, white balance, ISO and shutter speed.
There are two backdrops to choose from, either a white backdrop or a black drop. The choice I make depends on how I want to show the cover star and also the genre I choose. For my magazine I will be choosing the black backdrop because I think that it will suit my magazine much better rather than having an image on a white backdrop. When I want to take pictures of my cover star I will have to make them stand around 5-6 feet away from back of the backdrop, because if they were too close to the back then they will blend in with the backdrop.
Another piece of equipment that was introduced to me, was the reflectors. Their main job is to bounce light back onto the cover start so that the image looks a lot more better due to the extra lighting. When using a DSLR camera I need to choose either manual focus - MF, or autofocus - AF. Manual focus is when I want to focus on certain areas and autofocus is when the camera focuses on the frame itself, without me having to rotate the focus dial.

magazine proposal
Magazine proposal
Title of magazine
‘Tune-in’ will be the title of the magazine and the tagline
will be, ‘where the music world really speaks to you’
Your chosen musical genre(s)
I will choose my magazine to fall under the genre of rock. I
have chosen this genres because I feel as if it is a safer market than going
into the market of R&B or hip-hop and the reason for that, is because there
will be a very high standard compared to rock magazines due to the number of
the audience for the genre.
The kind of content you’ll include – for example, the
type of artists you might include, regular items, and most importantly what
makes your magazine different.
For the artists I will use to feature will be those who are
either at the very peak of the career or those who are on their worst part of
their career and anything in between, just so that I can give a variation of
stories and not just have the same stories being told again and again, as I personally
think it will get very repetitive and it would not make the audience pay for
another magazine as it will seem too predictable. The regular items that will
appear on my magazine will be interviews, quizzes, fact files, competitions etc.
The thing that will make my magazine different to other magazines of this genre
is that, there will be hidden codes within the magazine that will allow for the
audience to win next month’s copy for free and also receive a cash prize of
£10. Out of all the magazine’s distributed there will only be 10% of them which
will have a winning code.
Any design features, such as masthead, lettering, colour
scheme
My colour scheme will consist of red, black and white and
the reason for this is because I think that these colours really help to make
the magazine stand out. My masthead will spread along the top of the front
cover just like what the magazine company ‘mixmag’ do as I think it looks very
aesthetically appealing. The design of the magazine will have a techno sort of
look to it as I think it helps to resemble the two genres I have picked for my magazine
to be.
Who might publish your magazine?
I would like for Bauer Media to publish my magazine. The reason
for this is because they are associated with many successful and also well-known
music magazines on the market today. Therefore I think that if Bauer Media were
to publish my magazine I will have a lot more success than if were to have
another company publish it.
Who are the target audience (refer back to the press pack
research you’ve already done). Consider age, gender, social class, hobbies /
lifestyle.
The target audience for my magazine will be in the range of
20 year olds to 40 year olds. I feel that the way I will design my magazine
will attract an equal male and female audience, solely on the fact of the
design of the magazine. The people who will be buying my magazine will be in
the social classes of AB&C1 and their hobbies/lifestyle will be something
that revolves around listening to music or going to gigs and concerts.

analysis on college magazine's contents page
1. The three colour scheme which consists of white, green and blue is very suitable for the magazine itself as well as its targeted audience.
2. The structure/layout of the contents page is very appealing as it looks very easy to navigate and understand.
3. The different articles in the magazine are all indicated very well making it easier for the reader to find what they would like to read about.
4. The images within the contents page look very friendly. They either have a person smiling or a picture of an activity.
5. The unique title of "what's inside?" rather than the typical "contents", draws people in as it is different, suggesting that the articles within the magazine are also unique.

Introduction to my blog!
Hey guys, welcome to my blog. I will be posting future blogs
about my current coursework I will be working on for the majority of this year,
which will be creating a magazine. I will be working on the front page,
contents page and the double page spread.
Last week and this week I have been exploring the works of a programme named InDesign, which is the programme I will be using to create my magazine on (Front page, contents page and the double-page spread only).
As a heads up there will be times where I will make changes to my magazine to fit the criteria of the magazine which I have chosen to write for so that it will appeal to their target audience, and to make it better overall.
Keep on track with my upcoming blog entries and I hope you enjoy the content I will be entering throughout the next year!
